TTC Wine Club is offering a 4-week wine course. This will be a 4-week introduction to wine, given by Maureen O’Hara. Those who attended last year’s inaugural course were delighted with what they learned, and would highly recommend it.
It is based on minimum numbers, so please indicate your interest without delay, by contacting Maureen O’Hara.
What you will learn from this course:
This wine course is designed to give a good grounding in tasting and enjoying wine. On completion of this course, you can expect to be better at selecting wines, be able to describe wines, have more confidence in pairing wine and food, and serving it.
Each 2 hour session will be accompanied by 6-7 wines, and notes are provided. A Certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the course.
Dates: Feb 12, 19, 26, March 12. All these dates are Thursday nights, 8-10pm.
Cost: A special price of €75 has been agreed.

Recognising key elements in wine such as sweetness, tannin, oak. Identifying quality. Recognising faulty wines.
2. The various elements which give wine its flavour
Effects of climate, soil, winemaking, ageing on taste.
3. Matching food & wine
Theory behind food & wine pairing. Classic food & wine pairings.
Food-friendly wines. Wines & ethnic foods; Choosing wines in restaurants.
4. How to buy wine and make the most out of it.
Buying wine. Understanding labels & AC system.
Storing & serving wine.
